Your Questions Answered!
Who?
WHO CAN SIGN UP?
ANYONE
who loves Pilates is welcome and encouraged to sign up!
Whether
you are a bona fide Pilates pro or a Pilates aficionado, whether your core
is of Herculean or Lilliputian strength, or whether you have the coordination
of a newborn colt or the most adept tightrope walker, you are welcome to

Question
about teams? See the "How?" section below
WHO ARE THE JUDGES?
We are thrilled and honored to have the
following esteemed judges for the event:
Shari Berkowitz
Connie Borho
Phoebe Higgins
Roberta Kirschenbaum
Maria Leone
Rebecca Leone
Deborah Lessen
Kathryn Ross-Nash
Brooke Siler
Alycea Ungaro
Mari Winsor
What?
WHAT ARE THE EVENTS?
The events will be held on all equipment (Reformer, Chair,
Cadillac, Barrels) and the Mat, which can include props such as the Stability
Ball, Magic Circle,
etc. The events will further be broken down into categories such as balance,
coordination, strength, precision, etc. FEAR NOT! Inspired by the fact that
Joseph Pilates himself was a circus performer at one time, all events have an
element of fun fused into them. We can't tell you what they are now for then
you could practice! There will be individual events and team events.
WHAT ARE WE BEING JUDGED UPON?
Because we are trying to make this fun and serious all at the
same time, judging will be based on proper execution of the exercise while
accomplishing the "challenge" of the event. In other words, there
will be a clear goal of each event, but you can't sacrifice technique to
achieve it. There will be events for pros and amateurs alike. No need to fear,
enthusiasts! Your Teaser will not be competing with a pro's!
WHAT
IF I'M NOT FAMILIAR WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT?
Pilates on Fifth features the equipment from Stott Pilates®. As we know that
many of you are infinitely more familiar with other equipment brands, time will
be allotted at the beginning of each round for individuals and teams to
practice the exercise(s) on the equipment that we have before they dive right
in.
Moreover, we will have at least one volunteer at each station who knows the
recommended setting for the Stott Pilates® equipment like the back of his/her
hand so that they can make it easier for the others to adapt.
On top of THAT, the events are structured such that the actual performance of
the exercise is only part of the whole experience. You should not find
yourself at a disadvantage because you are more accustomed to Balanced Body’s
reformer, or Peak Pilates’ Chair, etc.
Why?
WHY DO I NEED TO REGISTER ONLINE?
Because you want a goodie bag! No, seriously, registering early
not only guarantees that you get a goodie bag (and who doesn't love free
stuff?), but also guarantees your participation in the events we have planned
for the day.
ONLY THOSE REGISTERED will be on the list to get the special emails outlining
all the details about the events and how to enter each. Sign up today!
Remember! Only the first 50 people to register get goodie bags, so sign up
today!

UltimatePilatesWorkouts.com on Facebook! Then help us spread the word virally
by tweeting, Facebook-ing, etc. Let your friends know you're attending, and you
and your friends can form a team.
When?
WHEN IS THE EVENT?
The event is Saturday, May 22, 2010. For a complete schedule
of the day's events, see above!
WHEN IS THE DEADLINE TO REGISTER?
While you can register the day of the event, the only way
to guarantee a goodie bag is to pre-register, as only the first 50
registrants will receive the specialty bags. Vendors have been
EXTREMELY generous with their gifts, so don't miss out!
How?
HOW DO WE CREATE A TEAM?
Teams can be created with 4-6
people. Email your group name and the members of your group to pilatesolympics@pilatesonfifth.com
to register! And if you don't have enough people for a team, no worries! Just
come on the 22nd and join a team that day!
HOW DO I
SIGN UP FOR AN EVENT?
Once you are registered for
the Olympics/Extravaganza, we will send you a list of all the events so that
you can decide which ones that you would like to enter. You can email your
requests to
pilatesolympics@pilatesonfifth.com. Each event is $10, and we prefer cash or check on the day
of so that our chosen charity Jgets 100% of the proceeds!
HOW DO THE
DEMOS WORK?
We are hoping to feature demos on all pieces of equipment, as
well as GYROTONIC® and CARDIOLATES® too! If you are
interested in performing a demo, let us know! Email us at pilatesolympics@pilatesonfifth.com.
Can/Can't?
CAN YOU PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION ON THE CHOSEN
CHARITY?
Pilates in the Schools is a program created to address fitness, health and
overall wellbeing for young people via the Pilates method. The program's
initial years were spent conducting pilot studies with 5th graders (9-10 year
age group), taking measurements for strength, balance and flexibility before,
and then after, a 10 to 12 week Pilates program. Well, the results are in! As
we all knew or suspected, Pilates effectively enhances not only physical
wellbeing and competence, but also emotional and mental well being. The Pilates
in the Schools Committee is now developing a workbook and DVD for greater
distribution, providing guidelines and safety protocols for young people K-12.
Donations to this program will assist us with the development of our materials
and grant writing. All donations are fully tax deductible, as The Pilates
Method Alliance
is a registered 501(c)3 corporations.
